Gooday Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 21, 2026
The short version. Most of your Gooday data stays on your phone. Gooday has no accounts, no ads, and no analytics or advertising trackers. We don't sell your data or track you across other apps or websites.
1. Who we are
Gooday is operated by 5F Legacy Companies LLC, doing business as Gooday, in Jacksonville, Florida ("we," "us"). You can reach us at jsal.gooday@gmail.com.
2. Information stored on your device
Gooday stores your routines, activities, timers, streaks, progress history, journal entries, reflections, settings, and photo check-ins on your phone. We don't upload this information to our servers. The only exception is the limited completion status and streak described under Morning buddy, and only if you turn that feature on. Depending on your device settings, this information may be included in backups managed by Apple, such as iCloud backups.
3. Photo check-ins
Photo check-ins are optional unless you choose the Commitment strictness level. Photos are saved only in Gooday's private storage on your phone. They aren't saved to your Photos library, and they're never uploaded. Shareable streak cards never include your check-in photos. A card can show your first name, your streak, and your activity names, and it goes only where you send it with your phone's share sheet. You can change camera and photo access anytime in iPhone Settings.
4. Apple Health
If you give permission, Gooday reads workouts, steps, sleep, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, active calories, and mindful minutes. It uses them to confirm activities and show your progress. Also with your permission, Gooday saves completed breathwork and meditation sessions to Apple Health as Mindful Minutes. Health data is processed on your phone and isn't sent to our servers. It's never used for advertising or marketing, sold, or shared with third parties. Deleting or resetting Gooday doesn't remove Mindful Minutes already saved to Apple Health. You can manage or delete those in the Health app. You can change Health access anytime in iPhone Settings, under Health and then Data Access & Devices.
5. Focus Lock and Screen Time
Focus Lock uses Apple's Screen Time features to lock the apps you choose until your routine is done. Apple gives Gooday private tokens that stand for your selections, so Gooday never learns which apps or websites you picked. Gooday doesn't read your app usage or screen time history. You can turn off Screen Time access anytime in iPhone Settings.
6. Morning buddy (optional)
Morning buddy works without an account or your name. When you turn it on, our server creates a random device ID and a private access key. The key is kept securely on your phone, and the server stores only a hashed version of it. The server stores:
- your random device ID and which device you're paired with
- a hashed version of your invite code, which expires after 24 hours
- today's status: the date, your time zone, whether you finished your morning, and your streak number
- cheer records and the dates we sent notifications
- when your device last connected
- your push notification token, if you allow buddy notifications
Your buddy sees only whether you finished your morning today, your streak, and cheers. We never share your journal entries, photos, routine details, or Health data.
Deleting buddy data. Tap Delete buddy data on the Morning buddy screen. You can also use Reset preferences & history in Settings, which offers to delete it first. Either one deletes your record and push token from our live database and removes your buddy's link to you. We also automatically delete buddy records that haven't connected in 90 days. Because Morning buddy doesn't use accounts, we can't identify your record from an email request. Please use the in-app button before deleting Gooday. Otherwise, your record will be deleted automatically after 90 days of inactivity. Our hosting provider may keep database backups for a limited period under its own backup schedule.
7. Notifications
Reminders are scheduled on your phone. Buddy notifications are sent from our server through Expo's push service and Apple Push Notification service, which process your push token and the notification text. Buddy notifications don't include names, streaks, or Health data. You can turn off notifications anytime in iPhone Settings.
8. App updates
Gooday checks for app updates when it opens, using Expo's update service. To deliver the right update, Expo receives basic technical information, such as your app version, your device's operating system, and a randomly generated update identifier. It also receives your IP address as part of a normal internet connection.
9. Analytics, crash reports, and TestFlight
Gooday doesn't include third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting tools. If you test Gooday through TestFlight, Apple automatically collects crash logs and usage information and shares them with us. Apple also shares any feedback you send, which may include screenshots and your name or email address. We use this information only to troubleshoot and improve Gooday. Apple's TestFlight privacy notice describes what Apple collects. Outside TestFlight, if you've chosen to share with app developers in iPhone Settings, Apple may share crash reports with us.
10. Server logs and security
To prevent abuse, our server briefly uses your IP address to limit how many requests it receives. It stores only a hashed version, never the raw address, and deletes that record within a day. Our server logs record basic request details, such as which address was requested and the response status. They don't record IP addresses or access keys. Our hosting provider, Replit, may keep its own standard network logs. Data is encrypted in transit, and we store only what features need. Hashing protects these values, but it doesn't make them fully anonymous.
11. Website and waitlist
If you join the waitlist at getgooday.app, Kit, our email provider, collects your email address so we can send you Gooday updates. Kit may record whether emails are opened or links are clicked. You can unsubscribe using the link in any email. Kit may keep a minimal record of your address so you aren't emailed again.
12. Purchases
Gooday doesn't currently offer in-app purchases or subscriptions. We'll update this policy before introducing them.
13. Service providers
These companies process data on our behalf, only to provide their services to Gooday:
- Replit hosts our server.
- Expo delivers app updates and push notifications.
- Kit handles waitlist email.
Apple distributes the app and runs TestFlight, push notifications, iCloud backups, and Apple Health. Apple handles that data under its own privacy policy.
14. How long we keep information
- On-device data stays until you delete it, reset it in Settings, or delete the app.
- We delete buddy data when you tap Delete buddy data, or after 90 days of inactivity. Unused invite codes expire after 24 hours.
- Rate-limit records are deleted within a day.
- Support emails and TestFlight feedback are kept only as long as needed to help you and improve Gooday, and no longer than 2 years.
- Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
15. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information. For waitlist, support, or other requests, email jsal.gooday@gmail.com, and we'll respond within 30 days. For Morning buddy data, use the in-app delete button described above.
16. Children
Gooday isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has shared information with us, contact us and we'll delete it.
17. Changes
If we update this policy, we'll change the effective date above and tell you about significant changes in the app or by email.
